California Workplace Violence Prevention

CAlifornia Workplace Violence Prevention plans and training (SB 553)

California’s Workplace Violence prevention bill (SB553) becomes effective July 1, 2024. Among other things, the new law requires a workplace violence plan that is specific to the organization and accessible to all employees. The new law requires:

• Initial and annual training on workplace violence recognition, prevention and response
• Processes and procedures for employees to report and employers to respond to reports of actual or potential workplace violence. 
• A written plan that addresses employees concerns, past incidents and likely concerns 
• A comprehensive workplace violence log
